Festival at the Ring

Festival at the Ring

On June 21st, Amsterdam's Ring A10 motorway was transformed into a 15-kilometre-long festival grounds. A unique and rare occasion that drew over 200,000 visitors. A highway without cars, but full of music, art, dance… and even a few weddings. All on a sweltering summer day.

Commissioned by V&OR / City of Amsterdam, Vinke Vision provided calm, oversight and safety at the place where everything converged: the transfer area, where visitors began their journey to the festival.

We helped design the smart layout of the area between transport hubs and the festival entrance, and made sure it worked. From a solid plan on paper to hands-on execution on one of the hottest days of the year.

With clear signage, tightly coordinated crowd flows and a well-organized control room, visitors could move safely, smoothly and stress-free towards the festivities.

What did we do? Quite a lot:

  • Advisory and planning

  • Safety coordination transfer area

  • Crowd management and pedestrian flow modelling

  • Wayfinding signage (you knew where to go)

  • Security and camera surveillance

  • Setup of the control room

  • Physical setup of the transfer area

A festival on the motorway, tropical temperatures and even a few wedding vows between the guardrails — this was no ordinary job. But that is exactly what makes the work so rewarding. We are proud to have contributed to this.
